The Tiger Barb is a small aquarium fish. It is a schooling fish, so keep at least 6, preferably more. They are best to be kept alone, because of the fin nipping behaviour. Not a community fish. Their tank mates should be fast fish; slow moving fish and long finned fish have to be avoided. Some of the compatible tank mates are Tiger Barb varieties, Zebra Danio, Bristlenose, Yoyo Loach, Clown Loach etc. Recommended minimum tank size: 32 inches / 80 cm long side for a school of Tiger Barbs. The Tiger Barb can live 3 - 5 years with the proper conditions.
